Holiday Runs, Don’t wait until next year

‘Tis the season for Holiday Running la la la la la la la la la… The holiday season is among us, and a good holiday theme run is the perfect way to burn off those holiday calories. Who says you need to wait until next year, start those New Years resolution goals now. Whether you sign up for a 5k marathon a shorter run you’ll be doing it for a great cause, for yourself and for the Holiday spirit.

1. UCSF Diabetes Center 2016 Miracle Mile/5k Holiday Run, San Francisco
This is a family friendly event that begins at Peacock Meadow in the Golden Gate Park. Join the challenge of running along a gently sloping course. This 5K Holiday Classic is a U.S. Track and Field Association certified course. You must pay a registration fee. All proceeds from this event will benefit research, education and patient care conducted at the UCSF Diabetes Center.

2. Run Wild San(ta) Francisco Santa run, San Francisco
This is a 5K Kids Dash where families bring their children or babies in strollers to take on the run. It is adorable to watch as families run together with their Santa hats and Christmas decor. This event will begin at East Beach at Crissy Field. The course is flat and loops around Crissy Field to Fort Point and part of the Golden Gate recreation area. You are welcomed to donate and brings toys to donations at the San Francisco Fire Fighter’s Toy Program onsite the day of the race.

3. Santa Skivvies Run, San Francisco (run in your undies)
Who says the weather outside is frightful? Register to this festive fun run through the Castro which benefits the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. All are welcomed to participate just put on your favorite Christmas costume or strip down to your undies and raise awareness to fight HIV/AIDS.

4. The Great Santa Run SF, San Francisco
This is a family fun, holiday tradition in San Francisco. There is nothing like watching a massive group of Santas of all shapes and sizes running together with the Golden Gate Bridge in the Background. This run is partners with the Opportunity Village Las Vegas’ Favorite Charity.

5. Jingle Bell Rock 5K, Santa Cruz
Register for this run and participate in bringing a toy for Toys for Tots. This run, jog or walk goes along the San Lorenzo River Levee. Its is a run that makes a true difference for the children of this community
There are also awards for the best-dressed runner, best-dressed team, best-dressed canine and best-decorated stroller don’t waste time and get creative!
